A smile she prepared earlier

spread across her face, her feet

sizzling as they slap the cold concrete.

“Right this way” she waves her hands in wonder.

You follow.

She kneads you and then warms you through,

the comfort of her scent surrounds you.

Once ready, she stirs you through the register.

Hands touch, smiles exchange.

“Have a nice day”

happiness hangs on every word

and permeates your heart.

It’s time to leave.

As you walk out the door,

you turn to take one last look.

The smile is gone.

There is no wonder,

just a woman.
